Tian Sung is forced to train in the outdated art forms of calligraphy, sword fighting, and guzheng music while keeping up with school studies. Tian never understood why his father insisted he learn skills that are so useless and unappreciated in modern day society. Then one day a mysterious man tries to steal his Chinese literature textbook. In the struggle, Tian is unexpectedly dropped into an alternate world known as The Divine Land where a girl named Mayshing Yeh tells him to write to save himself.
He quickly understands that his calligraphy ability is a weapon in this new world. The words take effect once written and named. The book thief continues to pursue them and Mayshing asks him to be her guard, but Tian tries to reason with the attacker and hands over his book. After being stabbed by the thief despite his peaceful talks, Tian finally takes things seriously and quickly uses his calligraphy to transform into a powerful warrior.
