The land of Turan, the “Upper World,” floats above the surface “Lower World.” A young woman named Soujourn fights against her destiny to be used as a sacrifice. She resolves to eliminate the dragons whose magic keeps her world afloat.
Soujourn Bolivar - Princess of the Kingdom of Neill. Grew up with Caleb and thought he was her best friend. Accepted his proposal only to later renounce it because it was already guaranteed behind the scenes by their fathers. Hates being forced or manipulated into actions. Also being raised as a "living sacrifice" to the Goddess, known as "The First". Decides to instead destroy the whole system.
Caleb Kelberg - Prince of the Kingdom of Ulaid. Grew up with Princess Soujourn as their fathers both ruled neighoring kingdoms. THe engagement ended abruptly when Soujourn realized it was already engineered by their fathers.
Daedalus - A brilliant inventor who seems to have experienced several lifetimes. He is well liked by people in the town but on poor terms with his son.
